About the Role: 

A Home Desktop Assessor is responsible for the end to end management of our claims. Focusing on cost and quality of submitted quotes, reports and variations in relation to home insurance claims, while providing excellent customer service. In addition, you will work closely with A & G’s panel of suppliers to ensure they perform repairs to our customers’ homes to a high standard and for a fair and reasonable price.

Key Accountabilities:

  • Conduct desktop assessments of insured properties using virtual assessing and/or causation reports supplied by our panel suppliers
  • Produce detailed reports, determine damage, coverage and best repair methods
  • Review scope of works and expert reports to ensure that the most cost effective and timely methodology of repairs
  • Assist internal and external assessing teams with technical and time related issues associated to repairs and rectification issues
  • Liaise with local authorities and third-party building surveyors regarding compliance issues and ensure repairs comply with relevant BCA and/or Australian standards.
  • Negotiate and agree upon scope of work and costing
  • Discuss scope of works and repairs with customers
  • Identify fraud activity
  • End to end claim management, managing a range of cost, quality and service controls

Experience & Knowledge:

  • Residential building/renovation and extensive estimating experience (essential)
  • Experience in managing quality building work and enhancing customer satisfaction;
  • Background in reviewing accurate scopes of works;
  • Exceptional time management and organisational skills;
  • Reputable communication skills and conflict resolution handling;
  • Proven experience in building effective business relationships with builders;
  • Superior customer service skills;
  • Insurance experience preferred

Professional Compliance & Eligibility

  • Qualification in Building/Construction or 2+ years’ experience in Construction or Insurance Assessing
